Mr Yang has been Secretary for Innovation and Technology of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region since November 2015.

Mr Yang graduated in 1977 from the California Institute of Technology in the United States with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and Applied Mathematics. He pursued further studies at Stanford University and obtained a Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering in 1978 and a Master of Business Administration degree in 1982. Mr Yang worked as a senior design engineer for Intel Corporation in 1978 and later as a strategic management consultant for Bain & Company.

After returning to Hong Kong in 1983, he joined Shell Electric Mfg. (Holdings) Limited as its Executive Director and Deputy Group Managing Director until August 1999. He took up various posts in several technology, venture capital and private equity firms from 1999 to 2003. Mr Yang worked as the Chief Executive Officer of the Hong Kong Cyberport Management Company Limited from October 2003 to February 2010. He was Executive Vice President of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University from March 2010 to February 2015. He was appointed as Non-official Member of the Executive Council and Advisor to the Chief Executive on Innovation and Technology in March 2015.

Mr Peter Yan is the Chief Executive Officer of the Hong Kong Cyberport Management Company Limited. As the CEO of Cyberport, Mr Yan leads the digital technology flagship to focus on fostering industry development, enterprise transformation and talent cultivation to realise Cyberport’s vision to create new impetus for Hong Kong’s new economy through digital technology.

Mr Yan has 34 years of experience in the information technology industry and is a fellow of the Hong Kong Computer Society. Prior to joining Cyberport, Mr Yan was the Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer of SUNeVision Holdings Limited; and had held various senior management positions in large consulting and information technology services companies including Accenture, Tradelink Electronic Commerce Limited, and Computer and Technologies Holdings Limited. Mr Yan has been active in public services especially in the areas of talent development and digital technology industry development, serving as advisors to the Chinese University of Hong Kong, City University of Hong Kong and University of Hong Kong, as well as the Board of Cyberport from 2011 to 2017.

Mr Yan holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from The Chinese University of Hong Kong, and received Executive Education from the Harvard Business School.

Chan is in charge of building the ecosystem of nurturing start-ups from inspiring the next generation, through nurturing the entrepreneurial spirit, to empowering global ambition, by providing comprehensive entrepreneurship programmes and early stage funding.

Ir. Chan has 32 years of experience in the ICT industry, a chartered engineer, a chartered marketer and a fellow of Institution of Engineering & Technology (UK). Prior to joining Cyberport, Chan was a Director of HGC Global Communication; and had held various senior positions in global telecom and IT services companies including PCCW, PCCW Consulting Services, Cable & Wireless HKT. Ir. Chan has been active in public services, especially in education and industrial training, professional bodies and charitable organisations. Ir. Chan is the Chairman of Knowledge Management Development Center, Vice Chairman of Industrial Training Advisory Committee (ICT) and a member of Curriculum Development Council. He also serves as advisor and mentor at the University of Hong Kong, the Chinese University of Hong Kong and the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.

Ir. Chan holds a BSc. (Hon) degree in Engineering from University of London, a Master degree in Business Administration from Manchester Business School, and received Executive Education from INSEAD and IESE business schools.

Eric is currently the president of the Hong Kong Esports Association. In recent years, eSports has become a global emerging sport. In 2018, the Indonesian Jakarta Asian Games eSports was included in the demonstration sport, preparing for the official project of the Hangzhou Asian Games in 2022. As the head of the team, Eric led the Hong Kong Esports Asian Games delegation to the demonstration site to visit the event and discuss the development of the industry with local eSports institutions. In addition, Eric has been invited to lectures by various universities and institutions to promote eSports development to various sectors, including HKU School of Professional and Continuing Education, Hong Kong Open University, Hong Kong Shue Yan University, The Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups, Hong Kong E-sports Music Festival 2018 Jockey Club The Next Furlong Scheme Shenzhen Hong Kong E-Commerce Development Forum and InnoTech Expo 2018 eSport Talk.

Eric also plays an active role in IT industry as well. He is the Director of Hong Kong Cyberport Management Company Limited, the Hon. President of Smart City Consortium, the Vice President of Hong Kong Information Technology Joint Council and the Vice Chairman of the Internet Professional Association. Concerning of youth development, Eric advocates the youth to train up themselves and make contribution to the society. And also disseminate the positive information to the public, shaping a harmonious society with innovative technology.
